The Principal's Office/Ivywild is an adult atmosphere set in a spunky school setting. The place is comfortable, even though it brings back memories of homework, and a smart choice to meet with friends. On one side of the building you have Bristol brewing, and on the other is the Principals Office restaurant and bar. I personally haven't had the food but from what I heard it's creative and worthwhile. They do brew their own ginger beer for the Moscow mules, and it's incredibly crisp, and spicy. The indoor old-school gym is used for live music and dancing, and the bathrooms have ABCs on the walls.

We are originally from Seattle (so have been to a lot of good coffe spots) and love the Principal's Office for great coffee and cocktails. Nice atmosphere, hip without the hipster attitude. Reasonable prices.
(5)Jordan O.
This place is a taste of heaven. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating, baristas that are serious about making good coffee, great bakery, sandwiches to order, gift shop, and more. This is a very unique place for Colorado Springs from what I'm told. It's great for groups or if you're rocking it solo reading a book. Ps the giant dessert paintings on the walls are a nice touch lol.

We we not especially impressed honestly. Been here twice. Servers were chatty with each other , not paying attention to customers just sitting there waiting on them to stop their conversations that went in a while. It took some time to get a second beverage as well. Prices weren't cheap either. Loud. Hard to carry a conversation. Posting this from an experience a bit ago. Went here one time only.

Everything is tasty, the staff are wonderful, and I love the vibe here!

I'd been in the ivywild school a few times before finally grabbing some drinks here. Stopped by on mothers day and really enjoyed the cafe novo my bf had. My warm black trap blazer was delicious, albeit strong! Loved the bartenders and overall atmosphere. Also the chai is made in house and so good!
(4)Madhu M.
Great atmosphere - ideal for a friday or saturday night relaxing night with friends. Good food with reasonable prices. Staff very friendly. Must visit.

The Principal's Office is part of one of the coolest concepts I've ever seen - Ivywild School. Ivywild is a former elementary school converted into a marketplace that is full of all types of activity and things to do and eat. The Principal's Office takes up a portion of the school with a study area and a bar that serves up both cocktails and coffee. I love the bar seating area as it uses an old chalkboard formally used at the school for a tabletop that you can draw on. They have several blends of coffee from different regions around the world. The bartenders/ baristas are fun and energetic and craft each drink with care. Stop by during 'detention hour' as they have great specials.
(5)Taylor B.
Very neat spot. The building is huge but the bar itself is warm and welcoming. Bartenders were nice and accommodating and super friendly. I didn't try the food but if the beverages are any indicator, the food has to be great! The only reason they lost a star in my book is because they are pretty expensive but you definitely get what you pay for. I'll return for a classy night out for sure.

Best cinnamon roll with cream cheese icing and other pastries. Fresh baked. Banana bread, loaf bread and more.
(5)Andrea V.
Traveling for business and I was looking for a place to drink coffee outside and work! This was perfect! The iced chai latte was one of the best I've ever had! The tables and chairs get really hot outside in the sun because they are metal, and there aren't any places to plug in your laptop to charge outside, but still a great experience!!

When you tell someone you have seats and tables actually check. After flying out at 6am and driving from Denver we were excited. I called from the PARKING LOT. the parking lot for crying out loud. Then no one would stop to help us. Awful staff. Awful service. Checking this off as a place to never return to. Don't lie to customers to try to get them to wait. Actually check.

Easily one of the top three coffee shops I've been to. Excellent coffee, including latte art, amazing ambiance, and super cool decor. It'll be my go-to coffee stop every time I visit the Springs.

Really cute place. However... My sister and I ordered the French onion soup. It was so extremely salty we couldn't eat it. And we love salt. Then my sister's potato salad was so salty, not edible. Also Ordered a kale salad and no kale was in the salad. Then the desert was super bland and weird. Sort of foamy when you ate it. Probably wouldn't go back unless it was just for coffee.

I live in Cañon but I have no problem driving 45 minutes to get coffee here. Awesome, well-lit coffee bar with a little pastry counter on the opposite side. Lots of seating, indoor and patio. Their cold-brew is fantastic, along with their drip coffee, cortados, and lattes. Service has always been friendly, cinnamon rolls have always been to die for. Love this place! Definitely worth your time and money, great, quality coffee.
(5)Jennifer T.
Great chai latte, great cool location in an old school! If I lived near this place I would go every week! Local food great service.
(5)Brenna H.
I love this place. I really, really do. The fact that they've used the school (that was built in the same era as the middle school I attended). The croissants are amazing. The coffee is always great. They have completely ruined me on ordering Moscow Mules anywhere else because they're just...so much better than anywhere else. Also, Erica is amazing. Keep that girl around.
(5)Johnny M.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Coming to this place is like stumbling into Narnia. The coffee is great, they have quality equipment and friendly knowledgable staff manning it. They bake their bread fresh everyday. And it is so unbelievably good. Everything Bread should be in every food store in America. The Ham & Cheese Croissant was savory and delicious. To top it all off, it's in a gentrified school building (hence the name) and it is well put together. Hipster without the negative side effects or attitude. This place is better than ANYTHING I've found in Denver so far.

A coffee shop with alcohol. Also located on the second floor of a renovated school house. Very unique! It was a bit confused where the location was. I tried my luck coming from the outside patio and luckily reached the bar area! You can also go in from the main entrance. Different ways to get in the coffee shop. I ordered a latte. Typically when I order a latte, I get 1 raw sugars with it. Their sugars here are in liquid form (they don't come in packets or in dry/powder form). I thought that was unique as well. The prices I thought were more reasonable than Starbucks. Also, if I had a choice between here and Starbucks, I'd choose the Principal's Office. There is seating at the bar area and plenty of seating in the place itself. There is also a cute area in the back for seating and to study. Mood lighting included. There's also a shelf next to the bar where you can help yourself with a jar of water, glasses, and utensils. This was a unique coffee experience. :)
(4)Arianne R.
This is my go to place for coffee! The bartenders are great, have great suggestions and the coffee is the best I have found locally. Ivywiild in general is such a unique place to relax and enjoy great food/drinks and company! I haven't utilized the Principal's Office for the bar yet, but I will soon! Plus, they make cute designs in the froth of your drink! Who wouldn't adore that?

Located inside a re-purposed school building named Ivy Wild, which is total hipster scene and you know I love it. This bar is cheeky with it's cocktail names, such as Class Pet and Rude Boy. Even it's slogan "Libations for the Troubled" had me intrigued. There was a drink that had caught my eye, the Chamomile Ramos Gin Fizz. They currently did not have that particular gin infusion on hand, but offered to make me a Jasmine one instead. Sounds equally delicious. I appreciated the time it took to my drink. A Ramos Gin Fizz is no easy feat; you pretty much shake until your arms want to fall off. Admiring their decor and continuing to peruse the menu, 20 minutes later my drink arrived with a nice foam head. Beautiful in looks, however lackluster in taste. There was perhaps too much cream, which overpowered the usual light and floral taste. It was drinkable, but it definitely was not the drink I was seeking out.
(3)Cassi B.
I absolutely loved this place. It was bustling with a happy crowed in an old school building. Hands down some of the best service and their mochas are yummy! I will definitely come back.
(5)Lindsey G.
The best bar in Colorado Springs, hands down. This is my favorite place to go. The bartenders are AMAZING, the drinks are out of this world. The food from the Meat Locker is great too, I usually order the turkey curry salad. It's big, but I manage to finish all of it - that's how delicious it is! The vibe of this place can't be beat - they even have a huge patio with fire pits. Any time I've got company from out of town, I always make a point to take them to The Principal's Office. Great spot during the day, too. Wonderful coffee and yummy chai tea, free wi-fi, and just great working space in general. Erika makes the best drinks - just a little tip ;)
(5)Lawrence W.
The Principal's Office is one of the finest handmade classic cocktail joints in town. That's a strong statement but, after frequenting this establishment with the great mixologists that work the bar it only seems fitting that they have earned the title. Between the chalk writable bar counter, the perfectly mixed cocktails and the great mixologists that hold a conversation it's definitely our go to spot for liquor drinks.
(4)John F.
This place absolutely is horrible, I went here and had a great night until it was time to close out and the bartender totaled the wrong number of beers I had had. I think she thought I was hammered or something, but not after 4 beers. Anyway she tried to overcharge me by 2 and then when I brought it up acted like she made a mistake and it was cool and she would take them off, but then she wasn't cool with it and was acting like I stiffed here over two beers. I think that's total bullshit. Anyway very hipster, tight jeans, beard with glasses type of place if that's your deal. Bad service, bad lighting (no dimming throughout the night), just overall bad experience.
(1)Dennis M.
Great, until they ruined the wifi. This place was awesome until they "upgraded" the wifi. Management explains that it only affects certain devices, but in my experience, using all new Apple gear, it does not work at all.. It's been unusable for 6 weeks an counting with no resolution in sight.
(1)Kathy D.
Best ginger beer on the planet. Toast with a copper mug! Best Moscow Mule I've ever had.
(5)Keith U.
Inventive cocktails, great service and a great atmosphere - perfect! Make sure to ask mixologist Erica to whip you up a cocktail!
(5)JColorado N.
Super chill and low key. Total hipster bar. If you can get past that, you're golden. But it's a fun place is a good atmosphere. Drinks are always good too! I would definitely recommend it!
(5)Keith H.
An interesting idea...turning the old Ivywild School into a restaurant/brewhouse. The Principal's Office has some fun drinks on their menu. The food leaves a little to be desired though.
(3)Brandon E.
Very cool place! Love the fact that they made very good use of an old schoolhouse an with all the cool little shops it is a mUst stop in Colorado Springs! Serving Intelligentsia, Novo, and a few other coffee roasters of some acclaim. Good pour overs an friendly baristas is all well worth your time. The eatery has delicious eats also, in house sandwich recipes that are bound to make you drool.
(4)Jon W.
Great atmosphere and a wonderful place to 'hipster watch,' which is people watching where only hipsters are found. I go here to study, to talk to people, and to get work done: good for all three. It can get crowded, and the bar tenders often have to refer to a book in order to make some drinks. This, however, is okay. I've found they add more alcohol when they question their own ability to make the drink. This has led me to try and stump them with the most exotic drink I can think of off the top of my head.
(5)Taryn W.
The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They make you feel comfortable being there. The coffee was delicious and very flavorful. It was some of the best I've had in a long time. The atmosphere, however, is what really set it apart from other coffee houses. It's calm, yet inviting and energetic enough to hold your attention. The floors are a bit creaky, but it's old. Parking, like many downtown locations, can be hard to find on a busy day, but it wasn't too hard to get a spot. Also, on your first visit, it can be a little difficult to find your way around. It's easy to get lost. But once you're inside, sitting down and sipping on some caffeine or alcoholic beverage, you won't regret coming.
(4)Don S.
Eric and the folks at The Principal's Office are now open. They have a great taste for fussy coffee, single malt Scotch whisky, and some local whiskers as well. Great mixed drinks and great coffee. Just go now and enjoy!
(5)David S.
I'm sitting outside with 6 people who'd gladly have another drink. Too bad last call was at 10pm. Bad form. Come on Colorado Springs. Great place, but you've got to be able to hang.
(3)Liz B.
Not bad--a free delicious specialty cocktail just because you walked or biked here with your friends to the Farm and Art Market just outside their doors on a Wednesday. Friendly accommodating staff and a cocktail that is satisfying both visually and to the palate. I approve.
(5)Sheila S.
I really enjoyed this little bar tucked into a corner of a repurposed middle school (how cool is that!!!??) I had the Sikar, a very well made savory-but-smooth cocktail featuring a tobacco-infused vermouth. Generally against all things tobacco, I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy notes in this cocktail and how they balanced with the subtle tobacco background. I also sampled all three specials for the day. The prices are very reasonable ($10 or less) and the portions are actual dinner portions - that is, not very large but still filling. Flavors are good, but if something sounds veggie, ask carefully as it might still contain meat. Our service was very pleasant, and they were understanding as my companion and I chatted well beyond the time it took to finish our drinks and polish our plates.
(5)Emily B.
Love this place! It looks like they took it out of a pub in Ireland and transplanted it here. The blonde bar tender was so cool and when I told him "surprise me" with my drink, he made me the best hand made soda I've ever had.
(5)Erik W.
Erika is the best! She made me an awesome whiskey drink and kept me entertained with a drawing contest on their chalk board bar!
(5)Greg R.
Really friendly people, good environment and good coffee. Great place to relax and just communicate. 5 stars
(5)Mike G.
You've heard the term "sipping whiskey"? Well, here they brew a cup of coffee so good you can sip it on the rocks. Sipping coffee. Sunday mornings features brunch with a new menu each week. Food is prepared well, and satisfying. There is a bakery on site with excellent baked goods. The cinnamon buns and Gorilla bread are noteworthy.
(5)Chris H.
What can I say? Great drinks, great atmosphere. The brewery is separate which I was not aware of prior to my visit but it is just down the hall which is cool. They have some really good mixed drinks so the beer isn't missed too badly.
(5)Brian K.
I traveled from Seattle to Colorado Springs for a class. This area is up and coming in the world of coffee/espresso. I would have to say that The Principal's Office has it all figured out. The barista cupped one of the best lattes I've ever experienced. Texture, flavor, temperature...all bases covered. Oh, and it's also a full bar with excellent food, presentation and taste. They were recommended to me by Brandon at Switchback Coffee Roasters. Best recommendation ever. May The Principal's Office will open a shop in Seattle/Tacoma... The staff treated me like a family friend each ensuring everything was as it should be.
(5)Sylvan H.
Oh so tasty; anything w/ their ginger beer is very safe bet.
(5)Amy W.
We stopped here for a beer while on vacation in Colorado Springs (and were hoping for appetizers). Apparently the place had opened for business just a week prior. We loved that the bar was in an old school building & we could see that it was going to be a great place, but the service was so-so and there was no food available. The bar was nice, the patio was great on a sunny summer day and the beer selection was great. I will definitely give it another try if we're ever back in the area.
(4)Scott B.
This place is a great addition to Colorado Springs and I can't wait to go back. My wife and I snuck away for a quick date here and loved the atmosphere. A room with the wall layers pealed back so you can see many different stages of development. Full of people yet still able to have great conversation without yelling. Had a Bristol Beehive and cheese curds...yep, squeaky cheese straight from Wisconsin.
(5)Sandra D.
Probably great for white people. I have no idea how the coffee or anything else is. After standing in line and watching the waitress flirt with a customer for ten minutes, my daughter and I were never given an opportunity to place an order. The male bartender was too busy to help us, and he eventually asked the waitress (who said she couldn't). So we decided to leave. The waitress followed us into the hallway and offered to buy our drinks. But it was too late by then. I'll never go back.

I came here for the first time a few days ago and have quickly developed a psychosomatic dependency on their amazing coffee. I have already tried almost all of the different roasts (which they source locally) and have been extremely satisfied with every one. They also have multiple brewing methods such as espresso, pour over, cold brew, and siphon (my new fav). The baristas are very knowledgeable and good at what they do, also very friendly and personable! I actually just moved into the area and am reluctant to explore any other coffee shops! If you appreciate good coffee and a hip atmosphere you need to check this place out.
(5)Lindsay W.
The whole Ivy Wild School is fabulous, but the Principal's Office is a great addition to the Springs, and this neighborhood, in particular. It's not only a fun place to be and attracts a very diverse crowd, but is also a place where you can go to get a first class education on spirits and coffee. Over all, stopping in for a coffee or a drink is a very enjoyable experience and I can't wait to see how things continue to develop here.
(5)Tracy T.
Love this place! Awesome drinks and coffee!!
(5)Devin R.
Everything is wonderful...this is an exceptional place. Especially for Colorado Springs. Don't get me wrong we do have some nice places but never have I ever had a vanilla latte so divine. ;-) Erika makes the best foam I have ever had on a latte. The syrups and such are all made in house. I don't think you realize what that means...so let me explain. The pumpkin spice syrup is made from real freaking pumpkins. They spend hours to boil, strain, season the syrup just to pour it into your drinks. Not to mention the maple, or hazelnut, or vanilla. Haha. As I have been here more and more I find that each person that works here is quite awesome. Erika was the first person that served me so she won the favorite spot...but she has some fierce competition. ;-) Audrey is extremely sweet and loves to take care of people. She is fun to get to talk to if you get the chance and is extremely attentive. Again this may be due to the fact I spend most of my free time here editing pictures with the free WiFi or typing out long emails etc...but if I can see this love over time so can you. The mixed drinks are delicious as well! Things are not just made but designed. If you don't like the drink and you are humble about it and let them know they often will re-make it or make something different with a smile. Although you can be a jerk too and they still will remake your drink with a smile...but just please don't be a jerk. The ambience is a classy but not snobby feel. Exposed brick, fine artwork, wood floors, mood lighting. The WiFi is free with purchases and will kill Starbuck's crappy slow internet everyday...again and again...and again. The teachers lounge is good for one person or a group of 10-14. Sometimes it gets super loud when the groups are obnoxious but usually it is just peachy. ;-) Are you hungry? Check out the Meat Locker for food as well as the bakery across the hall for dessert and bread. (I have exceptional reviews for them as well.) Overall it is just a good experience that I find hard for anyone not to enjoy to some degree. I would highly suggest this place...and if you don't like it...come find me and slap me...cause I will be here. I practically live here. P.S.-Don't actually slap me. That would suck.
(5)Jen M.
Wow! I have been frequenting The Principal's Office for coffee in the morning recently and can't get enough! The ambiance is wonderful, the baristas are top notch and the coffee is the best I have had. Such a great part of my morning!
(5)Lillian L.
Love it. Has a ton of character. I'm surprised that a place like this exists in the Springs! Great bar staff. My only complaint is that I wish it was a bigger!
(5)Casey G.
I spent a lot of time in the principal's office in upper school, so I much prefer The Principal's Office where I can have coffee and whiskey and not have my parents called. This place is unique and fun and everyone I encountered was friendly and they knew their stuff. Will be back to try a mixed drink and a pint on the patio.
(5)Ed B.
The coffee is excellent and the pastries come from across the hall (School House Bakery) with the utmost freshness. The knowledgeable staff helps you select from the great variety they offer. A wonderful experience.
